Welcome to Margaret Clitherow House

A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Margaret Clitherow House, a magnificent 19th century former Dominican Convent - a building with character and history.

Since 1981, Margaret Clitherow House has offered first-class facilities and first-class care for the elderly residents who choose to make it their home.

The Margaret Clitherow Housing Association, a non-profit making organisation, was formed in 1971 for the purpose of providing accommodation for the increasing numbers of retired elderly men and women of all denominations - or of none.

The house in St Marychurch, Torquay, a substantial Listed Building standing in more than 3 acres of grounds, had been owned and run by the Sisters of the Dominican Order as a home for the elderly; in October 1980 the house was offered to the Housing Association to fulfil the same purpose; the House remains in the ownership of the Sisters of the Dominican Order.
